Knitting Notes

Pattern: Palanen kauneinta (Piece of the Most Beautiful) by Tiina Kuu

Yarn: Lana Plantae Rambouillet Fingering in the Cochineal & Madder and Ontheround Nimble Socks in the Barred Owl and Narwhal colorways

Needles: Size 1.5 and 2.5 DPNs

I did enjoy making these socks, and this foray into colorwork was definitely a good experience.    But I have to say, I do like doing top down socks better.     I’m at least ok with the cast on now, but I’m just not a huge fan of the short row heel.     I love a good heel flap, so I think that’s a sign of what I should try to stick with.

There was a fair amount of dye matter flaking out of the Lana Plantae when I wound it, so I may live to regret putting it in with some white based yarn.    But it was nice yarn to work with.    It’s a little bit on the courser side, but I did get it for the color more than anything else.
